01 Common questions
Is Always Moving San Diego a genuine, licensed moving company?
Yes. Always Moving San Diego is a licensed, insured moving company based in Ocean Beach. We own our trucks and employ our own uniformed W-2 crew — we are not a broker, matching service, or lead marketplace. We hold a California CPUC household-goods permit plus US DOT & MC authority.
What areas do you serve?
All of San Diego County — Point Loma, Pacific Beach, La Jolla, Coronado, Chula Vista, National City, Clairemont, Mission Valley, Hillcrest, North Park, La Mesa, Santee, and everywhere in between.
How much does a local move cost?
Local moves run $159/hr for two movers and a truck, or $225/hr for three, with a one-hour minimum. Blankets, hand trucks, stretch film, and wardrobe boxes ride on every job at no charge. We can also lock a flat rate.
Can I get a flat price rather than the hourly rate?
Yes. After a quick walkthrough — in person or by video — we can set a flat rate. As a guide, studios and one-bedrooms run about $490-740, two-bedrooms $850-1,320, and three-bedrooms $1,400-2,200.
Do you handle high-rise and HOA condo moves?
Every day. We book freight elevators, provide certificates of insurance, and follow building rules Downtown, in the Marina, and in Mission Valley towers.
Do you move pianos, safes, and surfboards?
Yes. Our lead crew chief specializes in pianos, gun safes, fine art, and surfboards, along with tight staircases like the Sunset Cliffs carries.
Do you offer packing and storage?
We offer full or partial packing, unpacking, and climate-controlled storage for short or long term. Bring us the whole job or just the heavy lifting.
Are you insured, and what protection do I get?
We are licensed, bonded, and insured. Basic released value is included at $0.60 per pound at no charge, and full-value protection is available. Every shipment carries up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage.
Do you do long-distance and military PCS moves?
Yes. We run I-5, I-8, and I-15 to LA, the Bay Area, Las Vegas, Phoenix, and beyond, and we handle Navy and military PCS relocations.
When do I need to get on your calendar?
Two to three weeks is ideal, especially for month-end and summer dates. That said, we keep room for last-minute and same-week moves — just call.
What if something is damaged?
We work carefully, but if an issue comes up you have a nine-month window to file a claim, and we handle it directly — no runaround.
How do I get a quote?
Call (888) 278-9005 or use our online form. Tell us your rooms, stairs, and dates, and we'll send an honest estimate the same day whenever we can.
02 Why us

One company behind the truck, the contract, and the crew

Book us and the truck in your driveway, the movers carrying your sofa, and the name on your paperwork all belong to the same outfit — and packing, storage, even the boxes come from that same shop on one written quote. A broker sells your move to the lowest bidder and vanishes once you sign.

Always Moving San Diego
  • 6 of our own trucks and a dozen uniformed movers on W-2 payroll, hired and trained right here
  • Packing, the move, storage-in-transit, and the boxes — bundled on one written quote
  • The crew that loads your home is the crew that unloads it, even into our storage
  • California PSC household-goods registration plus US DOT and MC authority on file
  • One San Diego office and one point of contact from the first call to the final walkthrough
A typical broker
  • Sells your move to the cheapest bidder and keeps the difference
  • An estimate that somehow grows between booking day and moving day
  • Subcontracted strangers you never met handling everything you own
  • No straight answer on who pays when something arrives broken
  • A faraway call center standing in for a local moving crew

Did we skip your question?

Send it through the form and somebody from our office answers for your specific move, usually the same day.
