The heavy, awkward pieces most crews skip - a loaded gun safe, a slate pool table, a surfboard quiver, shop machinery - go on skid boards with straps and stair gear.
Some pieces need more than a dolly and good intentions. Rigo’s specialty crew handles the items other movers won’t touch — a gun safe down from a Point Loma bonus room, a hot tub across a backyard, a quiver of surfboards packed for the trip. Odd shape, dead weight, tight access: that’s our lane.
What we move
Gun safes, tool chests, and industrial equipment
Hot tubs, spas, and heavy patio pieces
Pool and shuffleboard tables, disassembled and reset
Home-gym racks, treadmills, and free weights
Surfboards, kayaks, and paddleboards crated for coast-to-inland runs
Fine art, sculpture, and antiques custom-wrapped
Vending machines, kilns, and other dead-weight equipment
Quoted per item
Specialty pieces are priced flat once we know the weight, the stairs, and the access on both ends — never a blind phone number. Each item moves fully padded and insured, with full-value coverage available.
Planned before it’s lifted
Nothing heavy moves on a hunch. Rigo measures doorways, checks the stair pitch, and lays out the rigging before a single strap goes on. A gun safe out of a Point Loma garage or a spa across a Coronado patio gets a real plan, not a group heave-ho.
Got something unusual? Call (888) 278-9005 and describe it.
Questions we hear a lot
What counts as a specialty item?
Safes, hot tubs, pool tables, home gyms, big art — anything heavy, awkward, or fragile enough to need special gear and a trained crew.
How are specialty moves priced?
Flat, once we know the weight, the stairs, and the access at both ends. We won't quote a heavy item blind over the phone.
Can you move just one heavy item?
Yes. Plenty of jobs are a single safe or hot tub. Tell us what it is and where it's going and we'll handle it.

One flat price on every San Diego County job, set before a box is lifted - a Pacific Beach studio, a La Jolla estate, a North Park bungalow - carried by our own W-2 crew.
Your San Diego crew stays with the load the whole way on one written binding rate - north on I-5 to LA and the Bay, or east on I-8 to Phoenix - no swapped trucks, no re-weigh.
Whole-home moves start to finish: every piece padded and stretch-wrapped, walked down the Sunset Cliffs stairs, then rebuilt and placed room by room at the new address.
Downtown and Gaslamp towers, Mission Valley condos, Coronado Shores high-rises - we book the service elevator, file the building COI, and move inside the HOA's approved window.
Give us a day's lead and the crew boxes the whole home in our own cartons and paper - kitchen, closets, garage - so move-day is nothing but the carry to the truck.
Closing dates out of step? Your things wait it out in a clean, dry, climate-minded vault - billed by the month, no long contract. Moving and storage under one roof.
Uprights, baby grands, and consoles ride on padded boards with straps and stair rollers - down a tight Downtown freight elevator or a narrow OB stoop, they arrive whole.
Booked your own truck, trailer, or pod? Hand us the heavy part - we stack it tight, brace every piece, and lock the load so nothing shifts on I-5 or I-15.
Downsizing a home held for decades takes patience - we move at your pace, pad and label what matters, and set the new place up before the truck pulls out.
Offices, storefronts, and Sorrento Valley suites moved after hours or over the weekend so you never lose a day - inventoried, labeled, and staged to your new floor plan.
Life shifts fast - a closing moves up, a lease ends Friday. We hold same-day and next-day slots and send a real Always Moving crew, never a subcontractor.
The heavy, awkward pieces most crews skip - a loaded gun safe, a slate pool table, a surfboard quiver, shop machinery - go on skid boards with straps and stair gear.
What a move day with Always Moving San Diego looks like
Move day, from first knock to last box
Your written quote
Tell us what is going and one written figure comes back fast — packing, boxes, and storage can ride on the same quote, and not a dollar gets added later.
The scheduling call
A day or two out, our dispatcher pins down the arrival window, confirms both addresses, and sorts the access — a gate code in Clairemont, a freight dock in the research park, or where the truck can stage on your street.
Load day
The crew chief tours every room with you first, runners and jamb pads go down before anything moves, each piece gets wrapped, and the truck is loaded in the order it comes back off.
At the new place
Boxes land in the rooms you marked, anything we disassembled is rebuilt on the spot, and the empty cartons can leave with the truck.
The last walkthrough
The crew chief does a final room-by-room check with you before leaving, and the bill matches the written figure exactly. That’s the job done right.
Written quotes and crews that actually show
Why San Diego County keeps calling us back
Looking for a San Diego mover who picks up the phone and does the job right the first time? That is the whole idea here. Households from Point Loma out to La Mesa keep choosing Always Moving San Diego again and again because each crew stands behind:
One written quote before we lift a single box
Packing, the truck, storage, and the boxes bundled from the same crew
Background-checked, uniformed movers on our own W-2 payroll
One crew from the first box to the last, even into our storage
California PSC household-goods registration with US DOT and MC authority on file
A $75 deposit holds your date — and it comes off the final bill
A written quote, a confirmed arrival window, and a San Diego crew that looks after your home like their own. Send the basics and a written figure lands back inside the business hour.
